Many young people say they haven’t received any tax education at school. Tax Facts is HMRC’s curriculum-linked tax education programme created to help bridge that gap. Designed by a team of educational experts, Tax Facts will help young people understand their tax responsibilities through interactive lessons.
We have provided resources in English and Welsh, including delivery guides, classroom presentations, activity sheets and videos. Each activity is curriculum-linked and can be delivered at school or home.
Tax Facts has been created for pupils aged 8 to 17 with age differentiated content. Activities are curriculum-linked for all nations.
This has been designed to help younger pupils grasp the concept of tax and why it is so important. Pupils are introduced to the idea that as responsible citizens we all make contributions towards things that can benefit everyone.

This has been designed to help older pupils understand the tax system and the role tax plays in their lives. Pupils will learn about the different types of tax to help prepare them for the world of employment. They will discover how tax is collected from the money they might earn, and the implications of not paying it.

The Tax Facts programme can be delivered by an HMRC ambassador. Our ambassadors lead a 45-minute lesson and pupils can ask them questions. A school visit can support you to achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks.
