I’m not sure many people quite understand the tribulations of flatmate-hunting as a young person. For most of us it’s not financially feasible to rent alone. So finding a new flatmate is an annual ordeal my friends and I seem to go through, much like filing a tax return. A contract expires and a friend moves in with a boyfriend – so you’re left with a room to fill. Or you have to move out of your flat because the landlord increases the rent, and then find new flatmates.
Last month, for the third time in two years, I found myself looking for a flatmate again. I opened my phone to see a message that said, “I am looking to rent an apartment. Now I
