LG CNS, a subsidiary of LG Corporation that provides information technology, business process outsourcing, system and network integration, and consulting services, has teamed up with Unity Technologies video game software development company, to work together on the metaverse businesses.
LG CNS and Unity Technologies said on Thursday, Sept. 29, that they have signed a “Global Platinum Authorized Channel Partnership” deal for cooperation in metaverse business. The platinum rating in the tie-up refers to a qualification that is granted only to firms that have a large number of digital transformation-related experts.
Additionally, they must be operating a sales professional organization with their own digital transformation businesses. Another important condition for the platinum partnership is the usage of Unity Technologie’s new services and the ability to provide technical support to customers. In any case, The Korea Times reported that this is the first time that the San Francisco-based software company has partnered with a Korean company.
With the cooperation, both firms will carry out businesses in the metaverse, so they will be building virtual spaces for the operations. The agreement will allow the two firms to innovate customer experience through the three metaverse squadrons – the virtual factory, the virtual logistics, and the Metaverse office. To achieve this, LG CNS and Unity Technologies will combine their base technical expertise.
“Through collaboration with Unity, the global No. 1 company in the 3D platform industry, we will link with LG CNS’ main fields of smart factory and smart logistics business,” LG CNS CTO’s managing director, Kim Seon Jeong, said in a press release.
Kim In Sook, the chief executive officer of Unity Korea, also said about the tie-up, “It is the best way to build an advanced metaverse environment by supporting the DX capabilities of LG CNS such as AI, digital twin, big data, and cloud, and Unity’s technological capabilities, which are being used as the core to build the global metaverse ecosystem. I will do my best.”
Finally, LG CNS is planning to establish a metaverse office at its Magok headquarters before this year ends. The company’s virtual workplace will offer many features such as multi-party video conference, one on one chatting, and a video conference that has a room for more than 1,000 people.
