African creatives are invited to submit entries for the inaugural Fak’ugesi Digital Creativity Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The awards seek to recognise digital innovation in creativity across the continent. The open call is intended for creatives in the following disciplines: music, animation, video games, extended reality (AR, VR) and arts (performance and visual).
Interested artists can apply here before 21 September.
Judging process
Each project will be reviewed by two selection panel members who will develop a shortlist of 10 projects per category for the jury to evaluate. Confirmed judges include Nonku Phiri (music, South Africa), Tegan Bristow (chairperson), Hugo Obi (video games, Nigeria), Isaac Mogajane (animation, South Africa), Jepchumba (arts, Kenya) and Ingrid Kopp (XR, South Africa).
Five finalists will be announced from each category on 3 October while the winning projects will be announced at a special Fak’ugesi Awards ceremony on 21 October followed by the closing party of Fak’ugesi Festival.
